What is a Cox-II Inhibitor?
What is a COX II inhibitor?
COX II inhibitors are a relatively new family of nonsteroidal
anti-inflammatory drugs. Though not necessarily more effective at reducing
inflammation and pain than older, traditional nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory
drugs, they represent an advance over the older drugs because they have been
proven to cause less stomach irritation and carry a lower risk of complications such
as irritation of the lining of the stomach, stomach bleeding and ulceration
of the stomach.
